Hummingbirds 10/10

 The Hummingbirds got to meet their 8th grade friends that they will meet with throughout the year to collaborate on book making projects.  Highlights from this week include doing a letter hunt to practice letter identification, painting spirals in art class, making lots of puzzles, sorting objects by color, running obstacle courses in gym class, signing in daily, getting together with our second grade meeting for worship partners, reading The Family Book by Todd Parr and then drawing and writing about our families, signing our Community Care Contract, and playing with the Catbirds in their classroom this morning.

 The Hummingbirds are excited to see their work going up on the walls of the classroom. They were very excited to hear that so many parents were coming for back-to-school night to see the classroom and learn about their experiences in school!  Thank you all for the pictures and notes you wrote to the children. We read the notes to them this morning and they were very happy.   I forgot to mention yesterday that if you ever want to come in and read a picture book or lead an activity with the children, please reach out and we can coordinate something.  As always, let us know if you have any questions about anything. Hummingbirds 12/12

 The children are excited about our upcoming Winter Program!  They have been joyfully practicing their songs and dances.  We have been continuing our work with books, letters, numbers, shapes, friendship, and community building.  Every day we are grateful to be with these delightful Hummingbirds.  Next Wednesday will be our first time going to Meeting for Worship with the lower school, and we have been exploring the physiological and emotional benefits of stillness and silence. Here are some picture highlights from the week We decorated cookies with our second grade friends. The point was to decorate cookies and gift them to someone else.  We talked about how it feels good to give to others. 😊

Hummingbirds 11/14

Each week we change the jobs on the job chart, and one of the jobs is reading the letter sound cards during morning meeting.  The children have been bringing books from home for book sharing.  Your child is encouraged to bring in a book to share!  After telling everyone about their book, they call on other children to ask questions or share comments.
