Hummingbirds 9/11

Your children are doing a fantastic job navigating transitions, and they are enjoying music, art, gym, and library classes. Next week, they will also have their first Spanish class.  Every day we read books, sing songs, familiarize ourselves with classroom materials and routines, and play outside together.  We are also working on learning each other‘s names and noticing first letters of names. We are counting often, and working with puzzles and games with letters and numerals. So far, our room has been a vibrant and joyful place to be! Our Hummingbirds year is off to a fantastic start! Your children are managing the transition to school incredibly well. We are ensuring that each child feels safe, seen, and loved every day.  When we feel a deep sense of physical and emotional safety, our nervous  systems achieve a state of balance. This allows our emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual selves to function optimally. We are establishing routines, getting to know each other, and having fun together.  We are creating a solid foundation upon which we can all thrive together. Welcome to our new Hummingbird’ Soleil Rivera joined our class this week🙂! This week we worked on writing our names, letter formation and identification, counting, identifying shapes, forming patterns, forming friendships, taking turns, balancing, focusing attention, listening, speaking, and playing with friends!   It is officially fall!  As the weather is getting cooler, it would be helpful to have an extra change of clothes suitable for the cooler times.🙂 Your children have been busy this week strengthening connections with each other, getting more comfortable with teachers, and practicing daily routines. It takes a lot of energy to emotionally and physically self-regulate and manage the cognitive load of moving through a whole school day. You have probably noticed how extra tired your children are at the end of the day. This exhaustion is normal, and it is also indicative of the ways in which your children are being stretched and challenged to grow in important ways.   This week we asked the children what they want to learn about in school this year.
