Hummingbirds 10/2

We had a super fun week in The Hummingbirds!  Dance parties, a colorful ball pit in gym class, counting rubber ducks, writing our names, making shapes with rubber bands on peg boards, sculpting with Play-Doh, learning about and making nature art, running and jumping on the playground, looking at, listening to, and sharing good books, balancing on balance beams, making race tracks for matchbox cars with magnatiles, using our imaginations, listening to the guitar and the singing bowl…

Each day is rich with learning and a variety of experiences. Here are some photo highlights of the week!

Our Hummingbirds year is off to a fantastic start! Your children are managing the transition to school incredibly well. We are ensuring that each child feels safe, seen, and loved every day.  When we feel a deep sense of physical and emotional safety, our nervous  systems achieve a state of balance. This allows our emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual selves to function optimally. Welcome to our new Hummingbird’ Soleil Rivera joined our class this week🙂!   It is officially fall!  As the weather is getting cooler, it would be helpful to have an extra change of clothes suitable for the cooler times.🙂 Your children have been busy this week strengthening connections with each other, getting more comfortable with teachers, and practicing daily routines. It takes a lot of energy to emotionally and physically self-regulate and manage the cognitive load of moving through a whole school day. You have probably noticed how extra tired your children are at the end of the day. This exhaustion is normal, and it is also indicative of the ways in which your children are being stretched and challenged to grow in important ways.   This week we asked the children what they want to learn about in school this year.
